I remember the first time I tried asparagus. I was twenty years old and wanting to like it, like was not my reaction… I loved it!!!
While standing in my tiny apartment kitchen, I was surprised at my new found love for this vegetable. It’s said that our taste buds are forever changing and I see this as a blessing in disguise. It pushes us to try new things at different times in our life, which we may not have wanted to taste before. If you ate asparagus ten years ago and hated it you should give it another try. Maybe now it will be your new favorite food. I’ve discovered many great ways over the years to cook asparagus and prefer it to be tender, lightly steaming the stalks prior to grilling. Then, splashed with balsamic and a sprinkle of good quality sea salt just before plating is my preferred way to indulge. This can be served warm or cold and makes for a great appetizer or side.
