Classic French Toast

Classic French ToastSCRUMPTIOUS Classic French toast with homemade whipped butter dolloped right on top

French toast has many different versions, but my all time favorite is classic and simple with fresh whipped butter dolloped on top that melts as it sits. Then pouring over gently and slowly a good quality of real maple syrup. Sprinkle with a light dusting of powder sugar for extra sweetness.

While I was pregnant with my second child this was my absolute guilty pleasure. I would make it when I came home from work, late nights when craving sweets or occasionally for breakfast. Currently not being pregnant I love taking warm sips of my strong coffee in between each bite of this sweet, savory and perfect french toast. I think any classic recipe brings feelings of warmth and happiness. While trying to create new recipes and find new foods that we love be careful not to forget the classics, because simplicity is always appreciated.
