- 8 ounce of bow tie pasta
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1–2 garlic cloves minced or pressed
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- Salt/Pepper
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 2 cups of grated unexpected cheddar cheese from Trader Joes or favorite white cheddar cheese
- 8 slices of deli ham, diced into small pieces
- 3/4–1 cup defrosted frozen peas
- 1/3 cup parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Bring large stock pot with salted water to a boil and cook pasta until al dente
- In a large sauce pan over medium heat to melt butter
- Sauté the garlic for 30 seconds in melted butter
- Whisk in flour, salt and pepper and cook continuously stirring until smooth
- Pour in milk a little at a time stirring constantly and bring to a boil for one minute
- Stir in mustard and grated cheddar cheese and cook stirring constantly until cheese is melted
- Remove from heat and add in defrosted peas and diced deli ham
- Adjust seasonings if needed adding more salt and pepper if needed
- Mix the bow tie pasta into the cheese sauce
- Transfer to oven safe bake ware and top with grated parmesan cheese
- Bake for 20-24 minutes or until cheese is bubbling and hot
