Why you’ll love Trader Joe’s Frozen Hash Browns
My family is on a mission to hunt down all the best Trader Joe’s frozen food. One taste of these delicious shredded potatoes and my entire family immediately fell in love.
These hash browns can be found in the freezer section at your local Trader Joe’s. They’re a convenient breakfast staple in our home. Many attempts to buy pre packaged hash brown resulted in potatoes that were mushy and greasy. Not these delicious shreds of crispy potato perfection.
How to make Crispy Hash Browns from frozen
Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, Trader Joe’s Shredded potato Hash Browns have found their way into the hearts and stomachs of many. Here’s how to make them at home.
The trick is to use canola oil and cook in a large non stick frying pan. After the oil is heated through add your hash browns to the pan and lightly press down. Very important, do not touch the hash browns for about 8-10 minutes on medium high heat. While cooking add salt and pepper. Once you have achieved a deep golden color you may flip the hash browns over and cook for another 6-8 minutes on the other side.

Yes. While the package does not say gluten free, the only 2 ingredients listed on the shredded hash browns are potatoes and Dextrose (corn derived).
The word “hash” is derived from the French word “hacher” which means to hack or chop. While the “Browns” stands for browned potatoes. Over time this was shortened to Hash Browns.
